Through the eyes of a young Catalan boy of Moroccan origin, ‘Hamza’ talks about how basketball can promote social integration

The 44th edition of FILMETS Badalona Film Festival kicked off yesterday with the presentation out of competition of the documentary ‘Hamza’, by Vidal Sabater and Juan Sánchez. The screening gathered a big audience at the Zorrilla Theatre, formed by representatives of Catalan basketball clubs and of Muslim communities within the Barcelona Metropolitan area.
‘Hamza’ is a documentary that tells a success story. It describes the personal journey of a young Catalan boy with Moroccan origin that thanks to basketball manages to find himself. The documentary highlights how basketball can favour the social integration in our society.
“Hamza” has been supported by Badalona Comunicació. Other collaborators are Masnou Basquetbol, l’Ajuntament d’El Masnou and the Federació Catalana de Bàsquet.
