In addition to the official section, the Festival includes all parallel activities under the OFF FILMETS programme. This comprises a series of sessions aimed at both young people and professional filmmakers. Within OFF FILMETS, we find FILMETS Pro, where the audience can enjoy industry professional talks and a masterclass.

In the world of audiovisual production, the roles of the producer, the executive producer and the production manager are often confused. But do we really know what each does? Where do their responsibilities begin and end?
In this roundtable moderated by Ed Antoja, we will shed light on these key figures in any audiovisual project. We will have three working professionals —a producer, an executive producer and a production manager— who will share their experience and debate about:• The specific functions of each role

MASTERCLASS GRANGEL STUDIO
Led by Carles and Jordi Grangel, this Barcelona-based studio specializes in developing visual styles for animated feature films. With over 30 feature films and numerous other projects in cinema, advertising, and television, it has become one of the most prestigious studios internationally.
Among some titles of their works are: “Balto”, “The Prince of Egypt”, “Spirit”, “Sinbad”, “Madagascar”, “Corpse Bride” by Tim Burton, “Kung-Fu Panda”, “Hotel Transylvania”, “How to Train Your Dragon”, and “Pinocchio” by Guillermo del Toro.
Award-winning artists, their original works have been exhibited in prestigious museums such as MoMA (New York), LACMA (Los Angeles), Katzen Arts Center (Washington D.C.), The ACMI (Melbourne), La Cinémathèque Française (Paris), SEMA (Seoul), Es Baluard (Mallorca), Museo Arocena (Torreón, Mexico), and at the Shanghai World Expo.

With Carles and Jordi Grangel responsible for character design, as well as costume and props design, Jordi specialized in supervising the film’s models, while Carles Burgués led the creation of the title, calligraphy, and credits. The character models were made at the renowned Mackinnon and Saunders studio in England.On the occasion of FC Barcelona’s 125th Anniversary, on 25 January 2024, the club’s Identity Department contacted Grangel Studio to commission a very special project: the creation of its new mascot “CAT”, which would become a massive cultural phenomenon.

NEW NARRATIVES GEARED TOWARD PLATFORM DISTRIBUTION
with Cristian Trepat, Director of Content and Programming at 3Cat.
How do you “cook up” an audiovisual hit when the viewer is in control and the rules of the game have changed forever? An immersion in the “engine room” of content creation to reveal how binge-watching is rewriting scripts, how the most daring formats for specific audiences are born, and why the new faces of platforms connect in a different way. We will also discover how classic genres, such as documentaries and educational programs, are transforming to adapt to new distribution channels and a more demanding audience. A journey to understand the transformation of the country’s largest story factory in the streaming era.
CRISTIAN TREPAT
Director of Content, Programming, and Culture at 3Cat since October 2022. He has a degree in Audiovisual Communication (UAB) and a postgraduate degree in Video Journalism (UPF). He is a scriptwriter and program editor, both in radio and in various audiovisual production companies. Since 2005, he has worked in the News Department of the CCMA, in different sections and programs, where he ended up as editor-in-chief. He has been involved in entertainment and cultural content since 2016, promoting shows and docuseries such as Eufòria, Joc de Cartes, Atrapa’m si pots, Natura sàvia, Oswald, Els herois de Vandellós, Quan arribin els marcians, and Nervi.Firday, October 24.
