Vivement Truffaut, to be held on Tuesday, 22 October at 7 pm at the Zorrilla Theatre, will remember the French director’s landmark film and two of his short films, Les Mistons and Antoine et Colette, which will also be screened

François Truffaut will be present at the 45th edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival in a special session entitled Vivement Truffaut, which will take place on Tuesday, 22 October at 7 pm at the Zorrilla Theatre in Badalona.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the landmark film Les Quatre Cents Coups (1959), FILMETS will be paying tribute to the French director. Clips from the work, one of the defining films in the history of cinema, will be shown during the session.
The title of the film refers to the French expression faire les quatre cents coups, which can be translated as ‘to do one crazy thing after the other’ or ‘to live a wild life’, and alludes to the protagonist’s continuous rebellious behaviour.
The quality and impact of the film brought the young François Truffaut international acclaim and helped popularise the films made by his contemporaries, such as Jean-Luc Godard, who were part of the French Nouvelle Vague.
Screening of two short films by François Truffaut
After the 60th anniversary tribute to Les Quatre Cents Coups, two short films directed by François Truffaut will be screened.
- Les Mistons, a 17-minute short filmed in 1957 and starring Bernadette Lafont, Gérard Blain, Michael François and Dimitri Moretti. The music is by Maurice Le Roux and it was produced by Les Films du Carrosse.
Synopsis: A group of young boys pursue and spy on a beautiful young woman during a hot summer in the city of Nîmes. They follow the girl and her boyfriend everywhere but, when their attempts to attract her attention are ignored or disregarded, they become cruel and torment the couple. The game ends abruptly for the boys when a tragic accident opens their eyes to the real world.
- Antoine et Colette, a 29-minute short shot in 1962. Starring Jean-Pierre Léaud, Marie-France Pisier, Jean-François Adam, Rosy Varte and Patrick Auffay. It was produced by Les Films du Carrosse.
Synopsis: Antoine Doinel is 17 years old and lives in Place de Clichy. He works at the Philips record factory. During a concert, a girl named Colette catches his eye. Antoine approaches her and gets her phone number. Both meet up again several times at concerts and chat. Antoine visits Colette at home with her parents, who invite him to dinner and seem happy with their daughter’s new friend.
Les mistons
70 years since the creation of UniFrance
During the Vivement Truffaut session, tribute will be paid to UniFrance to mark 70 years since its creation. UniFrance is a great French public organisation whose mission is to promote and export French films all over the world. It was founded in 1949 and shortly afterwards signed an agreement with Studio Lévin by which it became its main provider of images.
The Vivement Truffaut session will be attended by the Consul General of France in Barcelona, Ciryl Piquemal.
Fête Courts, the session to be held at the Institut Français in Barcelona
The Institut Français, located at Calle Moià, 8 in Barcelona is one of the FILMETS festival venues. It will host the ‘Fête Courts’ session in which a selection of French short films will be screened.
The session will be held on Wednesday 23 at 8 pm and feature six short films, five of which are works of fiction and one of animation. In total, there will be two hours of high-quality cinema.
The session will be presented by the director of the Institut Français in Barcelona, Max Vasseur.
The short films to be screened are Jupiter I, Les petites mains, Mon Oncle, Les Bigorneaux, La belle affaire and Fôret noir.
