Ennemies Intérieurs, Sélim Azzazi 

The 42nd edition of the Filmets Badalona Film Festival ends with a great number of spectators at the theatres and the different venues of the city. 15.000 spectators enjoyed the best international, national and Catalan short films at the venues of Badalona and the French Institute of Barcelona.

Lídia Heredia and Toni Forteza hosted LA NIT DE LES VENUS of this year, that has been broadcasted live by the Badalona Television, the Local Communication Network and on the Internet. This year’s novelty has been the design of the ceremony, where the stage designer of Badalona, Jordi Queralt, who has worked in several shows, such as ‘Poland, The Musical’ or ‘The Night of Saint Lucia’, and Blanc Produccions, the producer in charge of the last editions of the New Year’s Eve of  Barcelona, have participated.

The film ENNEMIS INTÉRIEURS, from France, directed by Sélim Azzazi, has been the winner film of the 42nd edition. The mayor of Badalona, Dolors Sabater, has presented the award to the director, Sélim Azzazi. ENNEMIS INTÉRIEURS is a fiction short film about the civil war in Argelia in the 90s. This short film had already won the Audience award in the Festival of Clermont-Ferrand 2016.

The Special jury award has been awarded to BIS GLEISH, by Benjamin Wolff, a fiction film form the United States. Dani de la Orden, president of this year’s international jury,  has presented the award.

MARCIANOS DE MARTE, by Fernando Trullols, world première at Filmets, has won the Venus for best Catalan production. Núria Llorach, president of the CCMA, has presented the award to the director, Fernando Trullols.

Anna Maria Basora, Communication and Sponsorship Manger at La Vanguardia, has presented the Venus to the best Spanish production to GARBANZOS CON AZÚCAR, by Antonio Aguilar. Josep Viñeta Balsells, chief executive officer of Badalona Comunicación, has presented the Venus to the best European production to DIE BADEWANNE, an Austrian short film of Timm Ellrich.

Miriam Zohar, main actress of the Israeli short film PARIS AL AMAYIM, has won the Venus of Badalona to the best actress.

Stein Winge y Jan Malmsjö, actors of the Norwegian short film TAKK FOR TUREN, have won the Venus of Badalona to the best actors. This year, the specialized jury has decided to award the two main actors. Laia Sabater, councillor of the city council of Badalona, presented the award.

The short film from Badalona, LA FOLIE, by Ricard López, has won the Venus to the best production from Badalona. The deputy major of the city council of Badalona, José Téllez, has presented the Venus to Ricard López, the director.

The Venus to the best animation has been awarded to the Belgium short film DERNIÈRE PORTE AU SUD, by Sacha Feiner. Francesc Pena, chief executive officer of the Local Communication Network, presented the award.

ADILA, a Spanish production of Rubén Llama and Alejandro Manzano, has won the Venus to the promotion of human rights. Iolanda Fabregat and Mireia Hernández, managers of the Àrea de Negocio in Badalona of the CaixaBank Fundation, presented the award.

Among the other awards, the Audience award, awarded to ENQUÊTE 62 by Laura Gabay , the Venus to the best visual effects, presented by the film critic Jaume Figueras, to FREEDOM & INDEPENDENCE by Bjorn Melhus, and the Venus to the best music to ENTRE LES LIGNES, stand out.

Lídia Heredia has presented the Honor Award to Juanjo Giménez for being a professional of the Catalan cinema who has supported the short film world since many years ago.

The Filmets’ team and organisation thank all the directors, producers, actors and professionals of the short films presented at all venues of the festival for their collaboration and participation.
