Filmets Festival champions local talent with “Badalona en Curt”

18/10/2026

Filmets Festival showcased the city’s audiovisual talent this Saturday with the “Badalona en Curt” screening. This non-competitive section aims to promote the town’s creative potential. A total of 14 short films were screened at the El Círcol Theatre.

The theatre audience was treated to fiction films exploring a range of subjects, including health and housing, but all shared one common feature: they were directed by filmmakers from Badalona. Some of the directors already have an established track record at Filmets Festival, including Aniez Atlas and Ricard Izquierdo. This year, Aniez presented three short films as part of this section. One of them was “Drown”, which explores postpartum depression. Ricard took part with “Honey Badalona és mel”, a comedy portraying the cultural clash experienced by an Englishman who moves from London to Badalona. Both filmmakers highlighted how rewarding it is to see their short films screened as part of a professional film circuit.

The stalls and first-floor seating area at El Círcol filled up with audience members of all ages. Young and old alike were keen not to miss the festival’s second screening programme, following Friday’s opening gala. Children and young people from the Xirusplai youth club also attended, accompanied by their group leaders.

Following the severe weather warning issued by the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat), the programme scheduled for Saturday afternoon was postponed. To avoid unnecessary travel and limit movement, the short films will be rescheduled throughout the week. The affected sections are “Divercurts”, “Pantalla Jove”, “Contrastos”, “Manifest”, “La Mirada Crítica” and “La Golfa”, which were due to take place at the Zorrilla and El Círcol theatres.
