The American short film ‘Skin’ wins the Best Film award at the 45th edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival

27/10/2019

The winning film is a story of violence between a group of neo-Nazis and a group of African-Americans that demonstrates that violence is not controllable for any group

The festivals awards ceremony, the Night of the Venuses, was a musical extravaganza that turned the Zorrilla Theatre into a cabaret where cinema was the protagonist

Skin, a 20-minute American short film, won the Best Film award at the 45th edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival. Written and directed by Guy Nattiv, it won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film earlier this year.

Skin is a story of violence between two groups: one white supremacist and the other African-American, with the violence initiated by the neo-Nazis. The message of the film is that once violence has been unleashed, it is no longer controllable by anyone.

The 45th edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival took place from 18 to 26 October in Badalona, Barcelona and Sant Boi de Llobregat, the latter of which was added this year to the now traditional venues of the festival.

The FILMETS awards were presented on Saturday night at the Night of the Venuses awards ceremony which took place at the Zorrilla Theatre in Badalona and was broadcast by Televisió de Badalona and Xarxa de Televisions Locals de Catalunya. The Night of the Venuses was hosted by the Badalona-born broadcaster Lídia Heredia and the music was performed by the singer Mone and the Filmets Band.
