The poster for the 45th edition of FILMETS is the work of Nil Moraleda Zarzo, a 20-year-old Barcelona-born former student on the Advanced Illustration Course at the Pau Gargallo School of Art and Design. Nil Moraleda now plans to study Graphic Design at the Catalonia School of Design and Plastic Arts (ESDAP).
As occurs every year, students in their last year at the school are able to enter a work with the possibility of it becoming the FILMETS festival poster. This year, the winning poster was created by Nil Moraleda.
The poster’s public presentation was attended by Nil Moraleda himself; his school tutor, Georgina Alcácer; and the managing director of Badalona Comunicació, Josep Viñeta Balsells.
Nil Moraleda explained that the aim of his poster was to ‘emphasise the international nature of the festival,’ showing as it does numerous silhouettes of people in different poses intertwined and grouped around the FILMETS logo. ‘I wanted to create a simple image, but one that conveys the idea of optimism and joy when it comes to watching the FILMETS festival’s shorts. It is a very different poster to those of previous years, but I think it really captures the essence of what the festival is all about.’
Nil Moraleda Zarzo’s poster will now become the image of the festival and adorn all of the materials that make up the graphic presentation of FILMETS.
