Friday, October 17th at 22:00 pm the 40th edition of FILMETS Badalona Film Festival opened with a retrospective session of short films that had won the Venus for the best film or genre during the 40 years of the festival history:

- WEST BANK STORY – 21’20’’ – Fiction- (2005)
- LE RÉVEIL – 6’ – Fiction- (2001)
- FATHER AND DAUGTHER – 8’09’’ – Animation – (2001)
- DIVISION AZUL – 12’ – Fiction- (2012)
- INSTEAD OF ABRACADABRA – Fiction- 21’– (2008)
- SILENT – 2’39’’- Animation- (2014)
The session was accompanied by music and lots of entertainment with live performances of the L’Oca Underground and the marseillaise band Les Pompiers Pony Club.
The opening ceremony was a well deserved tribute to the founders of the festival in 1971, and a recognition of all those who have made possible to reach the milestone of 40 editions.
Coinciding with the opening of the festival, at 21: 30h was the inauguration of the Vintage Expo at the Zorrilla Theatre.
This exhibition can be visited for free at the first floor of the Zorrilla Theatre until Saturday 25th. There you will discover time machines and the origins of the festival with unique pieces from private collections which have filmed and screened many films of these 40 years of history.

INTERNATIONAL JURY
The official international jury this year comprises John Vidal, co-founder of the festival in 1971; Alex Sufit, director of music videos and advertising (England), Luca Dal Molin, Director of UnlimitedErice Film Festival (Italy), Esther Casas, director of animation in Claymaniak (USA) and Miguel Angel Buttini, film director and producer. (Spain).

WEEKEND SCREENING SCHEDULE
Today from 10 o’clock in the morning BADALONA EN CURT at Zorrilla Theater. In the afternoon, more session of the internationals short films, manifest session, Nit del Mercat (Night at the market) celebrating our 40th anniversary with music and gastronomy, and at midnight Golfa Session.
Sunday, FILMETS EN FAMILIA (Family with FILMETS) at Zorrilla Theater and the Principal theatre. Filmets en forma at The Principal theatre and at 19 hrs in Zorrilla Theatre, “Cinema, Music and gastronomy: United States Of America guest country.
