Badalona, 18 November 2025
Professionals from MEDIAPRO GROUP have organised a virtual production workshop aimed at young creators at the group’s production centre in Barcelona. This working session, held on 17 November, aimed to foster creativity and provide an understanding of the key aspects involved in developing shoots in virtual environments.
Participants were able to learn about virtual production workflows, basic technological concepts, the roles of the artistic and technical teams, as well as how to integrate real elements with virtual backgrounds during a shoot. The workshop featured use cases and practical demonstrations with environments generated using Unreal Engine software, 2D 360° plates, and their application on LED screens.
This workshop forms part of the collaboration between GRUP MEDIAPRO and FILMETS Lab, an initiative of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival that functions as a laboratory for the development of film projects. The session was led by Marc Orts, head of the fiction sound department at Telson (GRUP MEDIAPRO) and artistic director of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival, and Isaac Bergada, head of the group’s virtual production department, together with their teams.
Virtual production is one of the group’s strategic business areas. The group has recently opened a new studio featuring this technology in Montevideo, Uruguay, adding to those already operating in Barcelona, Miami, and New York. The virtual production studio in Barcelona, measuring 500 m² and equipped with a 210 m² Unilumin screen, is a benchmark in the audiovisual industry and regularly hosts workshops and working sessions with various industry stakeholders in addition to top-level productions.
