Badalona, 19 October 2025
The FILMETS Badalona Film Festival hosted today the Spanish premiere of the winning and finalist short films from the latest edition of the BAFTA Awards, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
In the 2025 edition, the winning short film was Rock, Paper, Scissors, a UK production directed by Franz Böhm. The film tells the story of Bohdan and his son Ivan, who run a small hospital on the front line. Their courage is put to the test when a squad of Russian soldiers approaches the building, forcing them to make a difficult decision to protect their patients and their own lives.

The BAFTA Award for Best Animated Short this year went to Wonder to Wonder, a less-than-fifteen-minute film co-produced by the Netherlands, France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. Directed by Nina Gantz, the film tells the story of three miniature actors starring in a television show from the 1980s. After the death of their creator, the characters find themselves alone in the studio.
Louise Hakney, Operations Manager at the British Council in Barcelona, explained that their aim is for the short films to be seen in as many countries as possible, “and FILMETS is the perfect place to see them.” For Hakney, this selection “shows the diversity of British filmmakers, both young and not so young.”
The other short films screened during the session were:
- Adiós (José Prats, United Kingdom)
- Mog’s Christmas (Robin Shaw, United Kingdom)
- Milk (Miranda Stern, United Kingdom)
- Stomach Bug (Matty Crawford, United Kingdom)
- The Flowers, Stand Silently, Witnessing (Theo Panagopoulos, United Kingdom)
