Badalona, 2 June 2025 The FILMETS Badalona Film Festival is once again collaborating with Cinema Lliure a la Platja for its 14th edition, bringing a carefully curated selection of high-quality international short films to the beaches of Catalonia. This alliance reinforces FILMETS’ commitment to promoting short films and makingaudiovisual culture accessible to new audiences in open and inclusive spaces.
As part of the Cinema Lliure a la Platja series, which will take place from 7 July to 7 August in six towns along the Catalan coast –Tarragona, Tossa de Mar, Sitges, Palamós, Barcelona and Salou– audiences will enjoy short films that previously participated in the FILMETS festival before the feature film screenings.
The titles selected by the festival, organised by the public company Badalona Comunicació, include standout pieces such as Paumo d’amour, Burned Out, Pete, and Yellow, which received the Special Jury Prize in the most recent edition of the festival. These works reflect FILMETS’ commitment to emerging talent and to films that combine artistic sensitivity with impactful social themes. This collaboration brings the FILMETS festival experience to unique settings such as urban and tourist beaches, contributing to cultural decentralisation and encouraging interest in short films. Cinema Lliure a la Platja promotes a free-access programme, featuring recent award-winning films from the Oscars, Cannes, and Goya, such as Flow, Volveréis, and Salve Maria.
The next edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival, which has just closed its film submission period, will take place from 17 to 26 October.
