The festival kicked off spectacularly last Friday morning with the showing Filmets per a tothom. The big interest aroused by professional short films among the public revealed itself in the opening ceremony and on the launching sessions of Saturday and Sunday.
Cinema-goers from Badalona and its metropolitan area are also enjoying the showings of the international programme and the festival’s side activities.
The special showing with sign language shows that the festival reached, once more, all audiences thanks to Filmets Integra.
Sessió Manifest, a commitment with the best political and claimfilms, taking place at the same time as the classic showing, exceeded the most optimistic expectations with a great attendance.
Sessió Golfa, preceded by the musical performance of Juan Gómez, El sobrino del Diablo, filled every seat in Zorrilla’s Theatre. The audience was very participative and was thrilled by the four songs that were played, the four of them related to cinema and adapted to the city of Badalona and its festival.
Filmets en Família overcrowded, for the first time, the Zorrilla and Principal theatres, with the screening of some short animated films of great quality. Standing out among them, Feast, the last short film by Disney, winner of the 2015 Oscar for Best animated short film.
One more year, the showing “Cinema, Música i gastronomia”, dedicated to Swiss cinema and preceded by Gilles Estoppey jazz concert, showed the big interest aroused by those Swiss short films awarded by the most important festivals worldwide. This session, co-organized by Swiss Films and the festival’s Film Selection Committee, was attended by directors Mauro Carraro (Aubade), Mathieu Epiney (Cyclòpedes), Luise Hülser (From here to immortality), Luca Zuberbüler (Lothar) and Blanca Fibla (Sombreros, Boas y Elefantes).
The side activities and the audience involvement this weekend show that the international short film market as well as the interest it conveys are in very good condition.
