Participation is open to all short films that have never been screened at FILMETS Badalona Film Festival.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Films can be shot in any format.
Films must be sent in DVD format for pre-selection to the official section of the Festival.
If the film is selected, the Organising Committee will request a clean, high quality copy without subtitles.
The maximum resolution for • the projection at the Festival is 1920x1080 (1080 p) and the minimum
is 1280x720 (720 p) and always in a panoramic format (16:9).
Conditions of the video files to be projected:
- Extension of the file: the file format must be *.mov or *.mp4.
- Video codec: it must be Apple ProRes 422 or H264/MPEG-4 AVC.
- Audio codec: it must be AAC or PCM.
The organizers reserve the right to recode the original image and adapt it to ensure the projection and the highest possible quality. Files should be sent to filmets@teleb.cat to download them through Webtransfer or Dropbox. Also, they can be uploaded at the Festival's FTP.
A USB memory or a portable hard drive will also be accepted and returned hereafter.
Distributors and producers may also provide us access to their FTP to download the original film with t highest quality.
Films must not be longer than 30 minutes.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Copies registered in DVD will be incorporated at the Festival's video library. Short-listed films shall be
broadcasted in the program FILMETS, produced by Televisió Badalona and distributed through Xarxa de
Televisions Locals de Catalunya. Broadcasting rights of films awarded with the Venus of Badalona shall be
transferred to be shown twice on Televisió de Catalunya, by virtue of the agreement settled between the
Festival and TVC, by which Canal 33 shall broadcast a selection of the winning films.
Participation in the Festival and hence acceptance of the rules implies such transfer of rights and no further
requirement is necessary. The Festival reserves the right to fully or partially use the short-listed films in
the official section, without any commercial or lucrative aims, for promotion or coverage of the Festival.
For the publication of the official catalogue, a least two pictures of the films must be e-mailed to us. Any
other interesting information can also be included. If the films are not dubbed or subtitled in Catalan or
Spanish, dialogues must be sent in English by e-mail for their translation and subtitling.
The Organising Committee can resolve any question not covered in the rules. Their decisions are final.
SCREENINGS
From November 8th to 17th, 2012, at Teatre Zorrilla and Teatre El Círcol, and also at the other venues of the
Festival.
The Organising Committee shall appoint the members of the International Official Jury (formed by people related to the cinema or audiovisual sector and to culture). Previous to that, a selection jury shall view and select the submitted material.
The Official Jury will evaluate a selection of finalists and nominated films of fiction, animation and documentary genres.
Other specialised juries and the public shall decide the remaining awards.

Venus of Badalona and 750 euro – Award to the best documentary film
Venus of Badalona and 750 euro – Award to the best music video
Venus of Badalona and 750 euro – Award to the best Spanish production
Venus of Badalona and 750 euro – Award to the best Catalan production
Venus of Badalona and 750 euro – Award to the Human Rights
Venus of Badalona and 750 euro – Award to the best film produced in Badalona
Venus of Badalona and 500 euro – Award to the best European production
Venus of Badalona – Award to the best actor and actress
Venus of Badalona – Award to the best original music
Venus of Badalona – Award to the best short broadcasted in the Filmets program of the season
Special award to the best short film related to the world of comics
Marvin&Wayne award, valued in 600 euro, for the distribution of a short film at 50 international festivals
The sum of the prizes in cash shall be subject to the charge of the corresponding taxes in each case. Any
other special awards can be given when deemed appropriate by the Official Jury.
Participation in the Festival implies the total acceptance of these rules.
III International Short Film Market - From November 11th to 15th 2013
All films in the official section will automatically participate in the Market, where reputable professionals,
previously identified, can view them at the viewing booths.

Films and video tapes of the official section will be sent back before January 31st, 2013.
The Festival will provide the winners and invited professionals with two hotel nights and Tickets Restaurant,
as well as transportation to and from Barcelona airport to the hotel. The organizers will advise participants
who wish to attend the Festival with special prices and services.
FILMS PRODUCED BEFORE 1ST OF JULY 2011 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
The information you will provide shall be included in the Badalona Comunicació, SA database. The purpose
of its compilation and treatment is the management of the FILMETS BADALONA FILM FESTIVAL.
This information may also be treated with the purpose of promotion, advertising and analogue activities.
Participation in the Festival involves express permission in this regard. You have the right to consult, access,
amend and cancel your data, as well as to object to their treatment for the purposes meant by the
creation of this database. Under Badalona Comunicació, SA responsibility, in order to exercise any of you
acknowledged rights, you can address a formal certificated letter to Badalona Comunicació, SA, with registered
